About NADA
Protein, fiber and a food diary that stays on your device. No calories, no weight tracking and no account.
Reviewed
NADA means Not A Diet App. It's a private food diary for tracking protein and fiber, with goals you choose and no calorie or weight tracking.
Why protein and fiber?
Protein
Protein provides the building blocks for muscle growth and repair. Eating enough helps you recover from exercise and, alongside strength training, build and maintain muscle. Keeping that muscle matters throughout life, especially as getting older makes muscle loss more common.
Regularly falling short on protein can contribute to muscle loss. Losing muscle and strength can make everyday activities harder; in older adults, it is linked to a greater risk of falls and loss of independence. Why muscle health matters.
Fiber
Fiber is important for long-term bowel health. The World Cancer Research Fund finds strong evidence that foods containing dietary fiber reduce the risk of bowel cancer. Higher fiber intake is also linked to lower rates of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Many of us fall short: UK adults average about 20g a day, compared with the recommended 30g. Read the cancer research or the NHS guidance on fiber.
Why no calories or anything else?
Calorie counting makes sense for many people. For others, it's stressful, takes too much time or simply isn't what they want to focus on. You should be able to track what matters to you without having to count calories as well.
NADA focuses on protein and fiber. No calorie budgets, weigh-ins or weight-loss targets. Other nutrients matter too; you don't have to track all of them to keep a useful food diary.
What if I only want protein or fiber?
You can focus on protein, fiber or both. Set a protein goal without a fiber goal, or a fiber goal without a protein goal. You can also leave both goals off and just keep a food log.
NADA records both nutrient values when you log food, so there's no extra work if you decide to follow the other one later.
Why privacy first?
Your eating habits shouldn't become training data for the next AI model. NADA keeps your food logs and goals on your device. We don't receive them, and there is no NADA cloud database of your food history to sell or expose in a server breach. No account is needed.
What's included in Free and Pro?
Free covers everyday food logging. Pro adds access to your full history, more saved recipes and more ways to review your intake.

Where does our food data come from?
NADA's built-in food catalogue combines published food-composition datasets and cited references, including USDA FoodData Central. You can see the source details in the app.
Barcode lookups use Open Food Facts, a food database maintained by its contributors.
